This is a first!

In the eight years we have had the Bluebird Trail of Cobb County project, this is a first to have a Bluebird Nest and eggs in February. This photo was taken yesterday from one of our two NestBoxes located at Birney Elementary School.

Wow!! That's really early. Awesome. I have a pair checking out one of my nest boxes but that's all they are doing. I would like to talk to you about setting up more boxes in my area, Clarkston GA. I have 4 in my yard. I'm wondering about how far to spread them since I'm limited to my yard. I try to keep them out of visual. I believe the young ones from last year are still hanging out with the parents. They produced 3 nests and 14 eggs.

Love watching them! Thanks for all you do to help our bluebirds!!

I also noticed a pair in my box that started building nest on 2/21 and believe eggs may have already hatched as seeing the parents going back and forth with food. I've been too scared to open box to check as it's been soooo cold and don't want the babies to get chilled with little to no feathers on probably so will wait until it warms up to peek in. SO EXCITING though as was also surprised to see so early in season!!

I just checked as the suspense was killing me...nothing has hatched but see THREE beautiful eggs in nest! Put extra mealworms out to show love for parents to be. Can't wait to see them peeking their heads out!

Thanks for your blog & advice!
